The Changing American Family

I have been working hard and spent a lot of my time over this past weekend trying to put together a well written and thorough research paper. I believe I have a ways to go and several revisions before my paper will finally be finished and ready to turn in. I have been researching multiple websites and looking through several books to try and find as much statistical evidence to back up my claims throughout my paper. I also am looking for specific quotes that I can use to help support my thesis and any main ideas I have. My paper is mainly about the changing American family and how the traditional family has almost disappeared due to the rise and formation of new families such as gay marriages and interracial relationships. I also mention throughout my paper how the overall meaning of marriage is slowly fading away and individuals today do not believe it holds as much of a significant value as it once did a few decades ago. However, I still need to organize my paper better so that it flows properly and there is no confusion when reading it from start to finish. I also need to rearrange my wording and sentence types so that they differ in length and are not in the same structure throughout the whole research paper. One major improvement I need to make is relating my points and ideas to my rhetorical object, which is the show “Modern Family”. I tend to veer off into another direction and get caught up with one main idea without connecting it back to the show. It is definitely very difficult to not sound repetitive when writing a lengthy 10-page essay on such a specific topic. I had trouble towards the end because I could not come up with anymore ways of restating each sentence differently so that it did not sound repetitive. Overall, I think my first half of my paper has some strong points and little weaknesses. I used feedback from my last paper to help write a better transition sentences to link my ideas. I believe if I can organize the last half of my paper and work hard so that it compares to my first half, I will be able to turn my research paper in without panicking over my grade and stressing out. This paper definitely takes some effort and work to complete but I know I will be able to finish if I make corrections and fix my mistakes.
