The Emblem of Batman

My research paper is based on the idea that Batman is more than just a superhero that he represents a god. I got the idea from watching the movie the day before the assignment was due. It was an undeveloped idea that I was very uncertain about. I thought many times about changing it but realized that I could take it very far if I did a lot of research and thought it out well enough. I also believed in this topic because Ms. B assured me that it was a very “fruitful and interesting topic”.  I thought that by watching the movies and taking notes on all three that it would help build or even strengthen my argument. I was also able to find three good books specifically about batman as well as comics and superheroes. My more positive points are that my research was done completely and efficiently. I just need to incorporate my ideas in the places where I have too much research and reliance on the movie. I feel like I started early so that it wouldn’t be such a burden later and I wouldn’t be able to complete it to the best of my abilities.
After the feedback given from my classmates about my rough draft I agree with them being that I relied too much on the movies and or research and didn’t allow my own argument to speak for itself. I think I got too caught up in all the little messages that related to my topic in the movie that I didn’t really know how to balance it out with a more personal argument. I should use the idea of Batman to talk more about how people put their hope in what they can see than actually talking about Batman. This is honestly my biggest downfall. I did receive positive feedback from my peers. Most commented that it was going in a good direction and that if I relied on my argument it could really be a good research paper. Being that I still have more time before the due date, I will take the constructive criticism and make my research paper better. I plan on highlighting places where I feel I talked about the movie too much and try to change it by incorporating the original argument. This research paper in general will help me with sticking with the argument and believing in the ideas that I have. I think it’s a good way of using an object in order to show the bigger picture that can be overlooked at times.
