The Current State of Sex Trafficking

I have been working on my research paper since the weekend after we got the assignment and it is finally coming together. I had to do a lot of research that were not biased sources but I am happy with how much information I found. I made the argument that sex trafficking was often a forgotten about industry but it is actually growing; due to many people forgetting it exists. I think I had some very strong points about how the cycle of destruction happens with these women and they are never the same. They can’t live a normal life again due to their diseases, shame, and mental conditions. I also thought I related it well to how one decision of trusting the wrong person could put a woman in this position and make her enter this vicious cycle. Many of the women that enter the world of sex trafficking because they were tricked by someone they knew whether it was family, a friend, or someone they recently met. Girls are sometimes kidnapped and sold into slavery, but in the sex trafficking section it is usually someone giving them a fake job offer or offering to be their significant other before they manipulate them into being a sex slave for them.

It was hard for me to really dive into each subject without going into first person and telling about how I feel. I tried to describe each point vividly so the reader would feel like they know the ins and outs of the business through my paper. I thought it was difficult not to write too much about my visual and explaining how it relates to my topic. I think mine is more in the style of a pure research paper because I used my topic mainly as a plateau to be able to speak about my topic. This movie was a great visual to use because just from watching it, I have a great understanding of how the sex trafficking industry works. I still was not exactly sure after watching it, but through research I feel like I am almost an expert on sex trafficking and how it works in today’s society. This paper was a good challenge to be able to incorporate research into a visual that people widely know of. I feel like with the research and my knowledge from the movie, I informed the readers about the current state of sex trafficking in the world.
