Does technology really advance society?

In the video, Aaron Koblin: Artfully visualizing our humanity, Aaron Koblin is accurate in describing humanity today. Throughout this experiments, we can see that our society is now centered on social media and have taken on a digital age. It is easier to see what people are doing and why they are doing it through the cell phone usage experiment, air traffic control and online video making. Likewise, our humanity is becoming more and more centered on social media, like with the use of cell phones and the Internet, rather than what is was in previous centuries. With all of these advances, our future as a society is only going to get more and more digitalized and advanced. This makes humanity look more advanced technologically, but socially, it will continue to hinder us. With all of the advances in technology and social media, people can hide behind their phones or computers, and not face the world the way people had to do years ago. There are less communication and social skills that go beyond the computer, which has some good and some bad. It is good that our society continues to become more digitalized and advanced because that’s what moves our society along and with each improvement more accomplishments can be made. However, it is deterring people from being able to communicate face to face and experience real life. While humanity looks advanced in a digital age, at the same time, it looks glued to their laptops and cell phones and communicating in person is going to be a thing of the past.
With these experiments, we can tell a lot about our humanity. With the experiment having people color in part of a one hundred dollar bill, and the one where they needed to record their voices to a song portion demonstrates what our society is now capable of. These experiments show how advanced our society has become and what direction we are going in, and its promising. With these experiments, changes can be made with the data collected, and what our society needs can be addressed. These experiments show what our society is capable of and what people can do with more development in technology. People can draw over thousands of sheep without them knowing nothing about why they should be doing it. While all of these experiments and data are inspiring, I am still unsure about the future of our humanity and what will become of it, but I know it will be more advanced and more accomplishments will be made.
