I Believe

I believe is a very common statement used my students all over the country. Everyone uses it, but what people may ask what they mean by it, why are they saying it. When someone says “I believe” they are simply saying that they think that they are correct, but are not sure, they are just stating their opinion. They aren’t saying it as a fact, and are saying that it is more of a theory. We do this because we don’t want people to think that our opinion is the only one that is right. You do this as respect to others opinions. I feel that people say “I believe” because if the teacher disagrees then they think they could get a bad grade, or just make them angry. If you have a belief then it is obviously helpful for your argument, because you’ve chosen a side to argue for. Using “I believe” is also very negative because it doesn’t show that you truly think that your argument is correct. It shows weakness in your argument. It is saying that just because I think something is right I also understand that some think its not and I understand their side argument. In total I think that it is a negative aspect to your argument.
In my life I personally believe in fairness, decency and good manners. I believe one must endeavor to retain the spirit of youth. These are qualities of life that are most important to the success and happiness of one. First off, fairness is obvious because of equality in society today, every one deserve the opportunity to succeed. Decency is important to earning respect from others so that they know you’re the kind of man that people look up to. Having good manners is the same way, if you fail to act polite people won’t respect you and will not find you genuine. I think the most important is retaining the spirit of youth. This doesn’t mean to act like a child, but to always have the outlook of a youth. As one grows up they lose the free spirit and become close minded. I believe that all people should be positive and have an open mind toward everything. I read a story one time about kindergartners vs. college students, and that Kindergartners were willing to do more, because they weren’t afraid of failure or being embarrassed. Retaining the spirit of youth will allow you to always give everything your best effort. I believe that true happiness lies within oneself, and failure is never earned, but is taken. I believe that success isn’t measured by wins or loses, but the effort you gave during the game. These are things that I truly believe in, yet some others may not so I stated them as opinions rather than facts.
