Expression of the Twenty First Century

The suggestion that “the twenty first century will be defined by its interface,” is completely true, in my opinion. Each person has their own individual story and background. The map of the airlines supports the fact that each of those individual stories has the ability to spread. Not just nationally, but internationally. All of the flights that streaked across the aerial map had numerous people aboard. And with multiple people on those hundreds of flights, there is so much information to be acquired from each of those individuals. The graph of the quantity of text messages being sent also shows how much easier it is to communicate during the twenty first century. With the obvious simplicity of sending messages, it supports the idea of how simple it is to spread information and data to convey ideas and stories.
The Mechanical Terk projects explained in the video support the idea that “a whole bunch of people are smarter than any individual”. Individuals contributing a small portion of a project of which they are completely oblivious, shows how small efforts by large masses of people can achieve an extremely more complex feat. The detailed illustration of the hundred dollar bill composed of individuals’ smaller art works shows how something easy done by numerous people can add up to create something that would be extremely difficult for one single person. The Daisy Bell experiment showed how people can strive to imitate but will always have their own special distinct feature, as shown by the nearly incomprehensible take on the digital song Daisy Bell. And this shows that humans have a nature to be unique. This is also a quality that affects our stories and expression of ourselves and our experiences.
It was shown that videos could be made solely with computer animation. This showed that technology has become a way to express just about anything. The Johnny Cash music video was made up of pieces of art that, strewn together, made a full video of an almost-life-like Johnny Cash. This proved that even after death, one’s story still has no end as it lives on through others as well as technology. The Wilderness Downtown website also brings a whole new way of portraying one’s individuality. As I searched my home address, it filled me with joy to see a view of my home brought to life in a way I would have never expected. This just shows how simple it is to bring a story to life through interface in our twenty first century.
