Oh religion, how you have never failed me

In a CNN blog, a collection of pictures were taken which depicted athletes in particular stages of a competition particularly the Olympics. The Olympics is a big accomplishment to obtain and a big event to be a part of. People love watching and discussion main events from the Olympics. It is so big during the Olympics time, certain people and events become trending topics on twitter as well as common status topics on Facebook. The image shows the man after competing in an event in the Olympics. You see all the people around him which possibly include members of his family. He has not been given his score yet but by the look on his face he is nervous and fearful of the approaching outcome. The face he is making shows a lack of confidence and defeat. We see this by the clinching of his teeth and the unpleasant look in his eyes. The image shows how religion can help you overcome fears and obstacles. We see this by the man’s praying hands hoping for a good outcome. This is a particular moment that many people find particularly relatable. Winning and becoming victorious are both big things for many. Whether it is a sporting event, pageant, or an academic event, people depend on religion to help them with their confidence in themselves and their capabilities. Before any events, people pray or say a few words of encouragement in hopes of achieving the goal of winning. In movies that involve sporting events we see the portion of the film before the particular event takes place which is normally a group huddle, prayer, and words of wisdom. For example “Love and Basketball” and “Coach Carter” are movies in which prayer was a big part of the outcome. In my personal experiences, my high school team and I prayed before every varsity basketball game. Not only for basketball, but during the DECA competitions the contestants on my team shared a few words of encouragement and a slight prayer. Everyone does not believe in the same God or religion but countless numbers of people believe in a higher power to which they ask to grant them different things. Religion does not have to be just following the commandments, religion can be just a set of rules or beliefs that a particular group happen to follow. For those who do believe in religion, it ensures a good deal of things for a person. For this image, religion restores confidence and gives hope. It shows that its quite alright to be fearful in an instance like this but just think positive and use religion to get you there.
