The Farming Epidemic

The first video is showing respect to all the hard working farmers who spend long, tedious hours taking care of their farmland. They do a lot of work that goes unforeseen to the public and this commercial gives them the respect they should receive through their hard dedication. Many people do not consider or realize the things farmers do to benefit societies interests as a whole. These things go unnoticed and this commercial during the Super Bowl allows farmers to know that society is grateful for what they do and how we appreciate them for all their hard work.

Both of these videos hold some differences, but share some similarities to their overall point they are trying to prove. The first video was trying to portray the lifestyle of a hardworking father back when jobs were difficult and America lacked the technology it now has today. Men made it their top priority to provide for their families and worked day and night to make a living worthy. Dodge is trying to advertise that the harder one works, the more the individual will get out from it and will also benefit society. It wants to illustrate that we as a society might need to return to the hard working mentality to grow as a nation. The flaws to this particular video is that farmers in todays society do not make a lot of money even though they work more grueling hours than jobs that pay well and don’t require long hours of work. The second video teases the farming industry in the United States and discredits farmers these days. This mimicry is portrayed through the immature, childish tone at which the commentator is using. It used to be a top tier job that helped bolster the economic growth of our country, but its popularity and production has decreased dramatically over the years. It describes how farmers only make up a mere one percent of the total population in America. The images of the first video showed families on a farm helping each other out, outlaying the message that farmers should be respected and appreciated for all the effort they put in everyday. The second video changes the pleasant images to disgruntled ones showing migrants working and animals locked up in a warehouse. Its main message was to inform society about how the modern day technology is taking over the farming business and nowadays farmers are hard to come by.
